SITE

Butwal, Nepal

Butwal is one of the twin cities of the rapidly growing Butwal-Bhairahawa urban agglomeration in Nepal.

This city stands beside the bank of Tinau River, and at the northern edge of the Terai plain below the Siwalik Hills.

CONCEPT

Working around a pre-existing building structure with its’ challenges, the design provokes out-of-the-box thinking. ⠀

De Moksha acts as a host of multi-functional spaces with clean minimalist looks, blending together with its natural elements. A place that enhances a luxurious, comfortable experience. ⠀

With about 80% of companies and employees feeling like they don’t have a strong work culture and working environment in Butwal, De Moksha planned to offer an opportunity to thrive in that corporate culture with the necessary work environment.

MOOD BOARD

COLOR PALETTE

The studio was assigned the task of designing the interior and the facade of the building after the core and shell of the building were already being built.

The lower two floors were designed as a rental space with allocations of cafes and multi-purpose halls. While the upper floors were designed to be a hotel with varying sizes of suites with minimally designed interiors and a soothing color palette.

The facade of the building was kept to minimal aesthetics with alternating panels to provide much-needed shade and at the same time provide the much-needed privacy for all the rooms.

To provide the greenery in the urban context, extended balconies with planters were strategically placed.
