CONCEPT
Visually anchoring to its landscape while referring to its boundary.
Featuring a roof that appears floating in the sky,
broad overhangs that protect one from the scorching sun with natural ventilation,
while sliding window walls open to unite inside and outside and cool the house using
existing breezes
Maharlika Villa is designed to be a presidential unit, that is in the prime location of the property overlooking the lagoon and surrounding landscape.
From the outside, the building is visually segregated by a pavilion acting as a welcoming platform for the guest.
Once entered, the space slowly opens up through an accessway which is lit up by the skylights and floating staircases. Thus opening up to the magnificent lagoon view.
The common space such as living and dining is housed in the lower floor that expands to the outdoor deck, thus bringing the feeling of openness. The property consists of four bedrooms, two on each floors that overlooks the entire view of the forest the site has to offer.
The roof, which is a derivate of the property line, sits humbly in the structure below and protects from the weathering conditions. It wings out in both the direction throughout the boundary and blends within the landscape.
